HAVE A GOOD TIME 1980
"HAVE A GOOD TIME" is a two CD live set featuring Paul Simon performing two different
shows in Los Angeles 1980 (complete) and London 1984 (several tunes). These concerts
are especially noteworthy because he does a lot of songs that he seldom does live,
like nearly everything from his Hearts and Bones album, and several obscure tracks
from his Still Crazy, Rhymin' Simon, and One Trick Pony albums. "Some Folks' Lives
Roll Easy", "Have A Good Time", "St. Judy's Comet", "Was A Sunny Day", "Amazing
Grace", "Gone At Last", "Kathy's Song", "Allergies", "Train In The Distance",
"Operator", "Long Long Day", "I Do It For Your Love", "Rene And Georgette Magritte";
these are tunes he rarely includes in his shows, especially these days. It's interesting
to hear what they sound like live. Also included is what is definitely the weirdest,
most bizarre version of "American Tune" you'll ever hear! Also, for seven songs,
the Jesse Dixon singers join Paul and help him create some of the best music I've
ever heard him do, especially on "Bridge" and "Gone At Last", which are incredibly
soulful.
Live in Los Angeles 10 Sept/1980, great concert, paul is reunited with
the Jesse Dixon singers.
A highly recommended.
The bonus is several tracks from a solo 1984 tour show at Elisabeth
Hall. Vancouver
